An Aussie-Style Safari

There's a triathlon here in Gloucester next weekend and we have been signed up to man one of the stations during the run leg. Yesterday, we drove the course with the director of the race so we could see how it was laid out and where we would be stationed. It was quite a bumpy trip. We loaded up in Sam's 4x4 Land Cruiser and spent 2 hours driving through private pastures, forests and even a river. It really felt like a safari! We were with another lady who had just returned from Africa and she was telling us all about it, which made it seem more real. Too bad we didn't spot any lions or zebras...but it was still great to be out there with the cattle and birds!

For the race, the competitors bike 26k's, kayak 10k's and run 10k's back into town. They come from all over and there should be a total of about 250 participants. This is the 20th year that they've had it in Gloucester and the town council and residents are very supportive of it all. Should be fun!
