For the last couple of weeks, we've been contacting more people for house-sitting opportunities starting in June when our time here in Tannum ends. After many emails and a skype appointment, we've confirmed a 5-week house-sit south of Sydney about 25 miles, in the town of Bangor. We will be there from June 23rd through July 31st, before we head to Gloucester for another 7-week house-sit, which will take us through September. We're very happy to have this opportunity and are excited to see a bit more of Sydney, Botany Bay and surrounding areas. On our way down to Sydney, we'll stop in Brisbane for a couple nights and then the Gold Coast (45 minutes south), to see Bond University and Surfer's Paradise where I lived 4.5 years ago.
This week has been good. I had my piano lesson on Wednesday and Zach started his private soccer coaching on Friday with Cooper. He's 16 and is a dedicated soccer player. They worked a lot on fitness and goalkeeping skills and Cooper wants to come back next week, so I guess Zach didn't work him too hard! We're still hoping for a few more students...
OK, so watch this video that we taped from a TV commercial. It's our favorite commercial so far and I think it deserves to be in the Super Bowl Hall of Fame. :) Not really, but it is pretty funny!
Cyclone Update:
We've been watching the news for the latest on Cyclone Ului, which is off the coast of Northern Queensland and is expected to come southwest. The farthest south it should reach is about an hour north of us, so we're pretty much safe, but we will have a lot of wind, rain and swelling surf over the weekend. We went to the grocery store yesterday to stock up, cause it might be a weekend stuck at home with movies and puzzles!
The latest report said it's whipping up winds of 200 km/hour and is expected to hit the coast Sunday morning. All of the resort islands out at the Great Barrier Reef are evacuating and returning to the coast. Everyone is urged to get to higher ground with evacuation centers ready in Gladstone. Phew! We'll let you know what transpires this weekend...so far the weather has been pretty mild with some wind.
