We are so happy about how Zach's job has fallen into place. We both started applying and researching a lot of companies during our last month in Australia and Zach was able to setup an interview for the day we arrived back in Yuba City. After 2 more interviews with the owner, he sealed the deal and will now be working for North Star Construction and Engineering. It's a small company and most of their projects are located in Sacramento and the Bay Area. So, he's the project engineer and will be assisting the owner with all of the projects. They mostly do work for the state in various civil jobs...very similar to what he did in San Diego, but now will be on the construction side. It will be long hours, but a lot of the office work can be done at home, which will be nice.
Apart from interviewing, we have been remodeling and cleaning out a home that we will be renting from Zach's parents. Zach spent a good part of his childhood here, so it will be fun for him to live there again. It needs A LOT of work and this week we have been sanding and refinishing hardwood floors (discovered them under 15 year old carpet!), painting all the rooms, yardwork and general cleaning. We're hoping to move in by the end of the month!
