We began our night by getting ready at Gemma & Lachlan's apartment. It was a challenge putting together an outfit from the selection of clothes from my suitcase, but I managed by doing a little shopping in Gemma's closet. Luckily, I had found a jacket at a Vinnie's thrift store a few weeks back that was presentable. I just needed to add a dress, some nice heels and a purse. We took a taxi to Surry Hills which is a very trendy area with great restaurants and pubs. "Non La" was the restaurant of choice and we enjoyed a fantastic Vietnamese family-style smorgasbord. It was delicious! Most of the restaurants here are BYO, so you can pair a nice wine with dinner without spending a fortune. Their friend, Mike, met up with us at the restaurant. He went to med school with Lachlan and is totally Zach's Australian twin! They look similar, both LOVE sports and are just fun-loving guys.

After dinner, we walked to the Dolphin Pub to catch the tail end of the Australia vs. South Africa rugby union game. Apparently, this is another big deal which we had really no idea about. Rugby union is different than rugby league, so that's another "football" game that we learned and now I am definitely confused between union, league and AFL! It was a good game and Australia came out on top.
After the pub, we took another taxi to Darling Harbor and met some of their other friends at The Loft, a bar that had beautiful views of the harbor and a great atmosphere.
