The Countdown Begins...

We are planning to fill our last 3 weeks in Tannum by spending time with friends and seeing more of the area (i.e. Great Barrier Reef!!).

Zach's postie job is still going well. He has managed to stay away from any vicious dogs and recently has only come away with a few good paper cuts. He had a lot of junk mail to deliver last week (this takes much more time because he has to go to every house instead of just the ones with mail), so we came up with a good folding system to get them all done in one day....which means I've been recruited to work from home to fold and stuff! But, it means having him home sooner to go and do fun activities, so I'm definitely not complaining.

This is as close as I'll get to being a postie - just sittin' on the bike in the driveway.

Folding and Stuffing...

This past weekend was spent relaxing and watching Jessica Watson, the 16-year old from Queensland, sail into Sydney after a 7 month solo trip around the world. It was such an incredible feat for anyone to do, let alone a teenager. She had quite the welcoming home into the harbor as hundreds of boats followed her. Later that night, we went to a local rugby game for our friend Josh (the American from Colorado). Such a brutal game, so I hope Zach will just enjoy it from the sidelines. The Tannum/Boyne team won and it was fun to see the game played live.

Sunday was Zach's big day as he got baptized at our church here. It's something he's wanted to do for a while and the timing worked out great to do it here. There were 2 other young people along with him, so after the service, the whole church headed to the parking lot to give their support and congrats. Afterwards, we enjoyed morning tea with everyone. We will definitely miss the friends we have made here!

Zach beforehand - the water was a bit chilly!

So proud of him!

After church, Zach and some of the guys decided to test their fitness with the beep test. Apparently, everyone here knows what it is, but we had never heard of it. Basically you have two cones 20 meters apart and you run back and forth while listening to this audio recording of beeps. Every minute, the beeps get faster until you are sprinting. There are 22 levels and Zach got to level 14. In order to join an Australian or British military force, males must score at least an 11. And the S League (top professional soccer league in Singapore) requires a 13 to be admitted to the club. So....all that to say that Zach is in REALLY good shape!!

Stretch it out

Good job Zach - keep going!
